When our daughter was born we marveled at her tiny perfection! In particular, her feet with their “corn niblet toes” entranced us. We kissed them, took pictures of them, and played with them. Even though she is now 14 and preparing to enter high school in a few days, my husband and I often reminisce about those sweet times.
We share this fascination with parents the world over. In fact, Mike and Katia Hauser’s The Down Syndrome Footprint company uses this charming, unique image of Down Syndrome babyhood to increase awareness, empowerment and employment for those whose lives are affected by Down Syndrome.
The Down Syndrome Footprint raises awareness through public speaking events, informational videos, community walks and runs, attending and sponsoring conferences and providing support to Down Syndrome groups. Funds raised by the sale of their merchandise provide post-secondary educational scholarship opportunities to individuals with Down Syndrome. In addition, they employ people with Down Syndrome in the production, packaging and selling of their products.
The Down Syndrome Footprint Store can work with your non-profit group’s fundraising efforts. Their Mobile Down Syndrome Footprint Store can come to your walk or event if you are within an 8 hour radius of their corporate office in Menomonie, Wisconsin. They will also co-sponsor your event or allow you to purchase their products in bulk at wholesale prices.
